Sustainable development easily identifies, both in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, extremely relevant mutual interest areas in the social, economic and environmental fields serving as a starting point in advanced research. Subscribing to the major trends that define and promote the Europe 2020 Strategy, DEVEUROMD aims to encourage the exchange of experience and strengthen transnational research teams in order to identify European best practices validated in terms of sustainable development. This will support initiatives to attract European funds through research & development programmes.
Over the course of two years, the project will facilitate interaction between two research teams composed of specialists from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi and the National Institute for Economic Research from the Republic of Moldova.
The interdisciplinary structure of the research teams with expertise and interests in various complementary directions, such as general economic theory, philosophy of sustainable development, institutional economics, branch management, finance, statistics, marketing etc., will facilitate the analysis of the complex phenomenon of causality of sustainable development.
The main objective of the project is to identify, through the joint effort of the two teams from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the areas which, by applying European best practices in the field of sustainable development, could become reference points in identifying research topics able to attract European funds through research-development programmes.
DEVEUROMD seeks to meet the following objectives:
O1. To identify the European best practices which have been validated by facts and which can be assimilated by the economic, social and environmental policies in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
O2. To determine some common interest areas for Romania and the Republic of Moldova, in which the implementation of validated European practices can contribute in achieving successful sustainable development in both countries.
O3. To create the bases of a bilateral partnership as a support for mutual interest research activities between complementary teams from Romania and the Republic of Moldova in order to access future funds within the research-development programmes at the European level.
